Our Community Leaders
At Discovery Church we believe that Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church. Jesus provides us with our direction and purpose through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The church belongs to God and we are given the privilege of stewarding it in appropriate ways as God directs. Our leadership is focused on seeking God's leading through the direction of the Holy Spirit for our lives individually and our community of faith. Our church is led by individuals who are committed to seeing the cause of Christ advanced in our community and to seeing the hands and feet of Christ making a difference in our world today!
Our pastoral couple is Trevor and Barb Stearns. They came to us in August of 2003 from Fresno, California where Trevor was serving as the Associate Campus Pastor at Fresno Pacific University. Trevor graduated from Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary in April 2003 with an MDiv in Pastoral Leadership and Church Planting. Barb currently works for Most Home Referred which is an Internet based Real Estate company in Maple Ridge. Both Trevor and Barb have a passion for seeing lives transformed by the power of God's presence actively working in the lives of individuals and our community! They actively pursue their passion by volunteering their time to coach volleyball and softball in the community. Trevor and Barb have two children Bryan who is currently attending UBC Okanogan, and Kiana. Together they live in the Kanaka area of East Maple Ridge.
Annette is our Worship Leader at Discovery Church. She came to faith in front of her family and friends at Discovery in 2005. Annette has always been extremely passionate about Theater and Acting and has pursued that as a career. She fine tuned her skills at the University of Victoria, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2004. Soon afterwards she met and married her husband, Mike. They now live in Maple Ridge with their dog Pebbles and enjoy spending time together playing video games, watching movies, and traveling.
Johanna and Chad Reed are our Discoveryland Children's Leaders. They came to faith and were baptized at Discovery in December 2004. Chad and Jo are both doctors of Chiropractic in Maple Ridge where they work hard to help people to live an active and healthy lifestyle. Jo and Chad have a passion for helping children learn how God's WORD applies to their daily lives. Chad Johanna live in Maple Ridge with their two awesome young boys Thomas and Miles!
Ron Woolf is our Church Moderator. Ron has been a member of Discovery Church for 9 years and came to faith in 2001. Ron attended various churches as a child and as a teenager. However, Ron never truly understood what a real relationship with God was like until coming to Discovery Church. Ron has a real passion for discipleship and is excited to see where God is leading His church. Ron has four beautiful daughters and spends as much time as possible pursuing his other love in life, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. Ron lives with his youngest daughter Vicki in Maple Ridge.
